State and local officials will celebrate the completion of the renovation of Heritage Homes, which includes both Heritage at Town Center and Heritage at Odenton communities (formerly Glen Square and Stoney Hill) on Monday, June 9, 2025 at 12:30 p.m. This redevelopment was achieved through collaboration and dedicated partnerships with The Housing Commission of Anne Arundel County (HCAAC).
Invited speakers at the event include Diane Haislip, CEO, HCAAC; Steuart Pittman, County Executive, Anne Arundel County; Danny Boyd, Chairman, Board of Commissioners, HCAAC; Allison Pickard, Councilwoman, Anne Arundel County.
Heritage at Town Center and Heritage at Odenton offer a total of 182 affordable apartments serving low-income seniors and persons with disabilities. The communities include a mix of efficiency, one and two-bedroom apartments within one high-rise and multiple garden style buildings; 10% of the units in the communities are accessible and reserved for persons with disabilities.
As part of the ongoing vision and mission, the Board of Commissioners, staff and partners are excited to complete the conversion of this community through the Rental Assistance Demonstration (RAD) program meaning that the community is no longer public housing. The communities feature community meeting spaces, management and leasing offices, community services office, laundry, and maintenance facilities. The communities are certified under the National Green Building Standard and Energy Star for New Homes and include green spaces for residents' enjoyment. The project was funded through 4% Low-Income Housing Tax Credits (LIHTC) from the State of Maryland Department of Community Development, syndicated by the Royal Bank of Canada and Truist, and HOME funds from Arundel Community Development Services.
The Housing Commission of Anne Arundel County has a 50-year history of providing quality affordable housing and related services to Anne Arundel County families. HCAAC provides safe, decent, and quality affordable housing and supportive services to eligible individuals with limited incomes through a variety of federal, state, local and private resources. HCAAC is committed to addressing the community's affordable housing challenges and helping low-income families find comfortable, opportunity focused, affordable housing to improve their quality of life and achieve self-sufficiency.
